Odlum BrownBruce McFarlane, Vice President, Portfolio Manager, Odlum Brown Limited (one of BC's most respected investment firms) was born in Victoria and has lived in Oak Bay all of his life. He has had a lifelong interest in sport (especially Rugby, and now cycling) and has been active in his community as a leader and volunteer. Bruce loves to hear about my cycling exploits, he’s quick to laugh and has great stories to share. Odlum Brown has been very supportive and helped fund my participation in the UCI 2010 Junior World Championships in Offida, Italy and UCI 2011 Junior World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark. Chris Considine is one of British Columbia’s most respected lawyers with over three decades of experience. Chris and his family have been supporters of my cycling for the last three years. His love of adventure and being active stems from his passion as a rock climber. In the summer of 2005, he and a small group of friends climbed Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in the Alps at 4,810 metres. I always enjoy our meetings and keeping him updated on my latest equipment and training. Information on Chris can be found at www.considinelaw.com/text/bio.html
When I began to ride for Optum, p/B Kelly Benefit Strategies I started to rely upon the talent and service of Russ Hay's in Victoria for my bike maintenance and repairs. Owner Mike and his son Martie Clermont have been in the business for many years. Not only do they support local riders and sponsor a team, they volunteer at local events and contribute back by supporting events such as the Greater Victoria Cycling Festival. I don't know what I would do without them... www.russhays.com

Key Supporters

Without the daily help of key supporters, Annie would never be able to pursue her cycling dreams.

Houshang Amiri (Head Coach at the Pacific Cycling Centre, Victoria) has developed his coaching skills and philosophy over a 37-year career as both an international competitor and coach. He has experience in coaching Olympic and World champions to achieve over 90 podium finishes at the highest levels. After Annie had a disappointing performance in her first UCI World Junior Championships in 2010 she knew she had to find the best coach suited to her goals and needs. Houshang is a student of cycling science and high performance preparation. His attention to detail, balanced advice, and caring nature makes him stand out. Annie would not be cycling at her level or achieving her results without his constant help. In addition, Annie is blessed to have Erinne Willock mentor her through her role at PCC. Erinne is an Olympian, and has had ten years on the National Team, with many accomplishments. Annie is proud to call her a friend. www.pacificcyclingcentre.ca/

Cycling BC is the provincial governing body for the sport of cycling in British Columbia. Annie is extraordinarily fortunate since starting cycling to have had the direct support of Richard Wooles Director of High Performance (and Canadian National Track Cycling Coach). Richard is a top notch professional coach who competed at the highest levels – and he coaches some of the top riders in Canada, including Canadian World Track Champion Tara Whitten. Richard supported Annie at the 2010 and 2011 Canadian National Championships, and has provided invaluable advice and financial support when most needed. Annie also truly appreciates the direct support of Jeff Ain, BC Junior Coach, and all the Commissaires and staff at Cycling BC who make racing happen and ensure she has the right racing license, whether in North America or Europe. http://cyclingbc.net/

Aviawest Cycling Society (
www.victoria-cycling.com/AviawestCyclingSociety.html) was a not-for-profit society to support young competitive cyclists in the Greater Victoria community. Founded by Jim Pearson, who has been a strong supporter of athlete development, the society's vision is focused on helping young cyclists, in particular, develop into future world champions.

Trek Bikes Victoria. Without the, sometimes daily, help of Bill Fry, Troy Woodburn, Scott Mitchell, and Arran Spencer at Trek Bikes Victoria, there would have been no local training. When I started riding I have relied upon their advice, loaned equipment, contacts, and all manner of help. These guys are quite simply the best – even though I sometimes had to bribe them with my chocolate chip cookies! Arran is a mechanic wizard – no wonder most of Victoria’s best riders (Road / Mountain / XC) come to him. I have had to call outside of hours for emergency needs and trust Bill with all of my bike fittings. They are always smiling, helpful, and supportive. www.trekbikesvictoria.com
